Cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. |

Blend in 2 cups of the flour, alternating with the cup of cold water (always flour first). Beat well after each addition. |

Gently fold in the beaten egg whites along with the extracts and salt. |

Then add the rest of the flour and baking powder. |

Pour into prepared layer cake pans (you know, greased and floured) and bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. |
