Egg, well beaten |

Cream together butter, sugar and salt. |

Add egg and beat well. |

Fold in flour and baking soda which have been sifted together. |

Knead well, adding more flour if necessary to make a stiff dough. |

Shape dough into rolls and place in refrigerator to chill thoroughly. |

Slice dough into thin cookies and bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 400° for about 8 minutes. |
