Beat egg whites until foamy. |

Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff peaks form. |

Toss together the crackers, the baking powder and chopped nuts. |

Fold into the beaten egg whites with the vanilla. |

Spread in a buttered 9 inch pie pan and bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until dry. Leave in oven with door open until cool. Refrigerate at least two hours before serving. |
